Santiago, Chile’s vast and dense capital city, sits amidst the country’s central valley. In the winter months, one can vividly see the snow-capped Andes from most points in the city. Additionally, the urban grid is determined by two prominent hills: San Cristóbal and Santa Lucía. Since I first visited in 2013, the skyline has been changing dramatically. Though the downtown core is still made of 19th-century neoclassical architecture (winding side-streets, markets and imposing religious structures) there’s been an injection of glass, steel and, of course, concrete.
This updated guide includes the newest buildings of Santiago: Universities, offices, restaurants, museums and so on. Anything interesting in terms of architecture is here. If you find any mistakes or have any suggestions please let me know. My intention is to keep it useful. Hope you enjoy it!
