Are you planning to redecorate your living room this Spring and need fresh ideas? This post is for you.
Spaces have the ability to make us creative, happy and relaxed. On a previous article, I posted 21 Inspirational Working Spaces being one of my favorite corners at home. On the other hand, living rooms play an important role too. A living room is a space we use to socialize and to relax and therefore a very important part in our daily lives.
How to design an effective living room?
The main key element is light and that’s why most living rooms we like tend to have light colored walls. Then, the 5 color palette rule: never use more than 5 colors. In fact, if you can, try to use even less. It applies to web design, to architecture and to interior design too. If you have those two under control, you’re likely to succeed in your design.
This is a selection of beautiful living rooms which have a combination of light colors and that will hopefully inspire you. Which living room would be just perfect for you?

I love them all!! Isn’t it interesting that white is a favourite of designers. I had white walls and shades thereof for over 25 years. And then one day, I had a desire to have dramatic colours for walls and the muted whites for furniture. I love that we can change designs etc. And one day I will return to white walls!! Thank you for another amazing post. I look forward to every one.

Hello Rebecca! Love this. I think the magic of interior design is that is not as permanent as architecture itself and by changing some colors and furniture we can achieve completely different results. I’m sure your house looked amazing with this dramatic change. Also, love that our homes reflect our current situations. I bet you were in a rebel mood in that period 😛

You are incredibly perceptive. I had just completed my MBA studies – an exciting time in my life. Even so, I needed to head into a more flamboyant pathway. I agree that our homes do reflect our current situation. Vancouver is moving to smaller living spaces, simply because of land constraints. And there is a greater appetite to reduce our carbon footprint by embracing smaller and efficient options. We live in exciting times.

You make architecture and design even more exciting. I love how you show the colour schemes. It’s hard to choose a favourite.
They are all pretty cool.
