Virginia Duran Blog- ZURICH Architecture Guide 2017

Zurich, one of the world’s most exciting cities in terms of architecture, has been busy at work and new exciting
buildings, squares and public parks have bloomed across the city. Despite its new concrete additions, Zurich
remains a historical nucleus and medieval houses, narrow lanes and guild and town halls still coexist with respect
and grace within its present built form.

Zürich and Basel are also some of the most beautiful cities in Switzerland I’ve ever visited (and probably the cleanest in the world). Anything interesting in terms of architecture is in this map. If you find any mistakes, or have any suggestions please let me know. My intention is to keep it useful. Hope you enjoy!

    • Hello Emilio, happy New Year 🙂 Have you ever visited Zürich? This was my first time in Switzerland and I really liked it!

      • In 1995 we landed in Frankfurt, drove down through he Black Forest area to Berne, then stayed a few days at Lauterbrunnen, swung by Lucerne and down to Milan on our way to Udine (Italy, North of Venice). We liked Berne and Lauterbrunnen, did not stop in Lucerne, and did not go through Zurich.

Switzerland was a welcome change from our experiences in Germany, but still not as nice as Italy.

      • Ooh Berne, that’s on my list too! This winter wasn’t quite cold but I got the impression that this was one of those cities you’d rather visit in summer. And… no place is better than any Italian city, even if it’s just for the ruins and the food 😀

  1. Once again Virginia, your map is fabulous! It’s been several years since I’ve been to Zurich and you’ve given me the motivation to return. I remember the Rathaus and Stadelhofen Railway Station are spectacular. Now I want to go to the Museum of Modern Art. Thanks so much! ~Terri
